The 78th edition of the Belgian kermesse will take place this week.

A young stagiaire at that time, Stan Van Tricht took the team’s seventh success in Gullegem Koerse last season after an action-packed day dominated by the Wolfpack. Our team went on the offensive from the very beginning and constantly shaped the race before eventually placing two riders in the winning move, from where Stan sprinted to victory and Pieter Serry finished third.

Comprising 18 laps of a 9.5km circuit for a total of 171 kilometers, this year’s edition will have Remco Evenepoel at the start just two days after he won the Tour of Norway, adding a ninth stage race trophy to his cabinet. The Belgian will be joined by defending champion Stan Van Tricht, Iljo Keisse, Stijn Steels and Ethan Vernon, another rider who raced Norway last week, taking two podiums for the team.

“We have a strong squad for Gullegem Koerse, consisting of riders who can control the race, which should once again be fast and nervous, but also riders who can go for a good result, like Remco or Ethan, the latter in case we’ll have a group finish. The guys are in good shape and motivated, and we hope to end the month with a good result”, said Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl sports director Rik Van Slycke.
