The 26-year-old’s display bodes well for the remainder of the season.

Rémi Cavagna scored his best ever result in a World Tour stage race at his very first outing since June’s National Championships. The Frenchman built his result thanks to a strong ride in the individual time trial of the Tour de Pologne, which ended up – as expected – being decisive in the final outcome of this 76th edition.

Sixth overall in Krakow, where the race concluded Friday afternoon, the ever-improving Cavagna was separated from the podium by only 13 seconds as he brought France’s best result since 2019 at the World Tour race and made it three consecutive editions that a member of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl finished in the top 10 overall there.

“The other years it was a bit more difficult in Poland, but this time we had only one stage which was harder, and I managed not to lose too much time. That gave me confidence and I carried it until the end of the race, and now I’m happy to have finished in the top 10, especially as the first part of my season was derailed by that crash in December. This makes me believe that in the future I can do something in week-long stage races”, Rémi said after the stage. “From here I will go to the Tour de l’Ain, where we will try our best again. It’s always nice to race in France, so I’m looking forward to it.”
