The Czech is our best-placed rider at the Danmark Rundt.
A strong team time trial on an almost flat course around Assens helped Josef Cerny jump a whooping twenty-four places in the general classification. The multiple Czech Champion, Josef was one of the riders expected to get a good result in Wednesday’s 12.2km stage 12, and the 29-year-old didn’t disappoint, finishing eighth with a time of 13:59 after averaging a stunning 52.3km/h.
“It was a fast time trial, full gas for 13-14 minutes. The route was a bit technical in the beginning, but I started out pretty well and in the closing kilometers I still had some power left, so I am quite happy with how things went today. It was great also to have Kasper Asgreen in the passenger seat in the team car, following me and supporting me on the course”, said Josef after his best time trial of the season.
The race continues Thursday with a 239.3km stage that could bring some changes to the overall standings, as it will include gravel stretches, seven to be more precise, for a total of 18.2 kilometers of dirt roads.
