The 21-year-old neo-pro impressed with his sprint at the Danmark Rundt.
Ethan Vernon racked up his fourth top 3 of the season – his first in the pro ranks – after a powerful sprint in the closing 200 meters of the penultimate stage. The Brit, victorious in the spring at the Volta a Catalunya, came from far back in Friday’s hectic mass gallop, surfing wheels and finding spaces as he produced a huge burst of speed which helped him take a well-deserved podium.
“The boys did a great job all day, riding and keeping me in position. It is a shame I didn’t took the win, but I did try my best. There were some position problems in the last kilometer, but I was happy with the speed I had; it’s just that I ran out of road. I didn’t get a victory here, but the learning curve has been massive and hopefully I can take some things with me towards the future”, a confident Ethan said after the finish.
The 31st edition of the Danmark Rundt will come to a conclusion after the hardest stage of the race, one taking in many short but steep gradients that will leave their mark on the general classification.
