Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Julien Vermote was the team's top finisher in a flat, 258km stage on Friday in the 6th stage of Tour of Austria.
Vermote crossed the line in 12th place.
Frantisek Rabon made an original 19 rider break, but that group was eventually caught. Another 10 rider group emerged, and two riders broke away from that group. However, the field came back together with a little more than 5.2km remaining. Marc De Maar (United Health Care) tried to attack in the final kilometers, but the peloton was determined for the race to come down to a bunch sprint.
Sacha Modolo (Colnago) beat Daniele Colli (Team Type 1 - SANOFI) and Danilo Napolitano (Acqua & Sapone) to the line for the win.
