Fabio Jakobsen will be among the squad’s cards this weekend.
Our team will line out this Sunday for the 89th Grand Prix de Fourmies, one of the last French races of the season. The course is an undulating one, which the attackers will find to their liking, but the fast men of the peloton also have a solid chance of fighting for the win, as proven by the previous five editions, all of which concluded in a bunch gallop.
European Champion Fabio Jakobsen, Yves Lampaert – who was recently crowned West-Flemish Champion – Stijn Steels, Jannik Steimle, neo-pro Martin Svrcek, Bert Van Lerberghe and Ethan Vernon will be in action for Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl at the 197.6km race, which the Wolfpack won twice.
“Fourmies comes again with the rolling course we know from the past, with those local laps containing a couple of hills, before some more bumps heading into the final kilometers. If the weather ends up playing a role, then it’s going to be a very hard race with many splits in the peloton, but a bunch sprint is also possible. In that case, we’ll try with Fabio or Ethan, but if the race is too difficult and they won’t be there, then we will rely on Yves, who showed a very good form since resuming racing after Le Tour”, said sports director Rik Van Slycke.
