Tim Declercq is our top finisher at the five-day race.

The many short climbs spread over the course of the last Tour de Luxembourg stage, together with the bonifications on offer at the two intermediate sprints placed in the closing kilometers promised significant changes to the overall standings, but in the end things remained more or less as they were before the start.

A small breakaway was in the spotlight and had the peloton work really hard in order to bring them back, the last man in that group being caught only in the last kilometer, on a 700m hill featuring some really steep gradients. This allowed four riders to escape from the bunch and fight for the stage win, which went to Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ), while Mattias Skjelmose (Trek-Segafredo) took home the yellow jersey.

Tim Declercq was among the most active riders in the last part of the day, putting in a solid ride on the undulating roads around Luxembourg, gaining two positions in the general classification and concluding the event as Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl’s top finisher.
