Hundreds of kids made a beautiful drawing of their favourite rider in the team.
Last year we organized the fantastic exposition “20 Years of Passion – The History of The Wolfpack”, celebrating our squad’s first two decades in the peloton. Twenty stages in KOERS. Museum of Cycle Racing in Belgium displayed the rich history of the team, showing many of our memorable moments since 2003. Having also an eye for the kids, KOERS launched a drawing competition asking them to give colour to their favourite rider and thus get a chance of winning the beautiful blue jersey and bib shorts.
“We had the idea to stage a kids’ corner in the exposition”, says Stefanie Lietaert from KOERS. “That went really well, the kids’ activity gave an extra incentive to families to come and see the expo of The Wolfpack. One of the tasks for the kids was a drawing competition. We selected a couple of known riders of the team, like Remco Evenepoel, Julian Alaphilippe, Mark Cavendish, Yves Lampaert and Tim Declercq. Our graphical team made a line drawing of them, then we asked the kids to choose their favourite rider and to give them colour. If they brought back the drawing, they could have the chance of winning a jersey and bib shorts of the team.”
“We really had to print a lot of them; we got 246 drawings back but of course there were a lot more as we didn’t receive all the drawings. At the end of the expo three winners were selected. The kids were so happy getting their prizes – the iconic blue jersey and bib shorts. Their eyes really shined. You see the riders and the team really speak to the children, especially as a lot of the riders speak Dutch, making the barrier again a bit smaller. Even though the Spring Classics last year weren’t what the team expected, there are also moments where it’s more difficult and this is recognizable for kids.”
