The 19-year-old finished first in the GP Wilfried Peeters.
Jonathan Vervenne kept the good times rolling for the Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team, scoring another victory just four days after Varre Vangheluwe’s success at the Youngster Coast Challenge.
The Belgian came out on top at the seventh edition of the GP Wilfried Peeters, where he took his second win of the season after the one he picked up at Les Tour des 100 Communes, two weeks ago. Just like in France, Jonathan arrived alone at the finish after he rode away from the peloton with five kilometers to go. The peloton concluded just a few seconds behind, and Andrea Raccagni rounded out Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team’s perfect day on home soil by taking third place.
“We attacked the whole race because we didn’t want to have a bunch sprint at the end. Our guys kept trying, were brought back, but we never gave up and continued to put pressure on the others. Gust made an acceleration, then Warre, then I tried and finally managed to get clear. I knew I was capable of this kind of solo effort and I am happy it worked out and I could take another win for this fantastic team”, said an elated Jonathan following Sunday’s success.
