This season the team will be supported with the top-quality food of the cooks of Cotton Kitchen.

For an average of 150 days a year, the riders will get to enjoy the delicious and healthy dishes made by the cooks of Cotton Kitchen. From this year, a completely new cook truck will travel with the team to several races. Two cooks are now creating balanced and top-quality dishes at Volta a Catalunya, but also during the Grand Tours and other classics Soudal Quick-Step will rely on Cotton Kitchen.

Each race it’s a difficult but important task to make a balanced and healthy breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks if needed, recovery shakes and dinner for the riders. “With the big evolution in cycling, food has already become a specialisation. Together with the three dietitians of the team, a specific and individual food program is made per race per rider. We decide the dishes, buy fresh ingredients and try to serve it in a nice cosy way to the riders”, says Thijs Gelaude, owner of Cotton Kitchen. “After a long hard day on the bike, a rider often doesn’t really want to sit a long time at the dinner table. We put a lot of work in using tasteful ingredients and making colorful presentations.”

This year Soudal Quick-Step rents a completely equipped cook truck from Denmark, to work in the most hygienic and practical way. “Together with Cotton Kitchen we have our own team of cooks to optimise our food strategies. We decide the meals for the riders together, in detail. For our riders this is crucial to recover well for the next day. It can be a difficult task to eat well after a hard race, the cooks of Cotton Kitchen use their creativity and keep an eye on the smallest details. We look forward to working together this season”, added Lisa Nijbroek, one of the team’s dietitians.
