Tom Boonen passed today new medical checks in the Herentals Clinic in Belgium.
The checks underlined a fracture of the 6th rib on the right side of his chest. Boonen will observe three days of rest, and on Thursday, he will try to train again. At the end of training Boonen, together with the team medical staff, will decide if he will participate in Tour de la Region Wallone prior to the Olympics.
"There's nothing more to do than wait and see how the situation will evolve," commented Boonen. "I'm sad because my condition is good and I really don't want to lose the chance to participate in the Olympics. On Thursday I will have the answer that I'm waiting for."
