The two Belgian riders have inked a two-year deal with our squad.
Ilan Van Wilder and Louis Vervaeke have extended their contracts with Soudal Quick-Step until the end of 2025. Since becoming part of the Wolfpack, the two Belgians have shown their quality in a number of situations and played a huge role in some of the squad’s biggest successes of the last two years, including Liège–Bastogne–Liège and the Vuelta a España, at the latter helping Remco Evenepoel take a triumph that Belgium had been expecting for over four decades.
“For me it’s important to be happy in the team. This was one of the factors that made it really easy to sign a new deal. It’s an honour to be part of one of the best squads in the world. I had two great years and I am delighted I can continue here. I improved a lot since coming here and I plan on becoming better and better with the help of the team”, said the 23-year-old Ilan from Poland, where he is on the verge of finishing in the top five overall after a solid week of racing.
“To come here was the best decision I could take. I found myself again, I rediscovered my passion for cycling, and this has made me happy. Winning the Vuelta and Liège with Remco are just two of the best memories I have from these seasons, because each time I had the feeling that I contributed to the history of cycling. I am ready for more and hope to help the team get other resounding victories in the next two seasons”, added the 29-year-old Louis.
“Retaining the services of both Ilan and Louis was an easy decision, a part of our long-term plan, and we are delighted they both decided to stay with us. They joined the team just two years ago, but they showed themselves plenty of times in all kinds of races and situations, and it was those displays, as well as their character, that convinced us their place is here”, said Soudal Quick-Step CEO Patrick Lefevere.
