Fabio Jakobsen and Tim Merlier will both be in action for the Wolfpack this Sunday.
Our team will line out in a few days at the start of the 90th the Grand Prix de Fourmies, one of the last French races of the season. The course is once again an undulating one, which the attackers will find to their liking – in part thanks to the presence of the 400m rue de Fourmies climb – but the peloton’s fast men also have a solid chance of fighting for the win, as proven by the previous six editions, all of which concluded in a bunch gallop.
Fabio Jakobsen and Tim Merlier, who between them have scored 15 victories for Soudal Quick-Step so far this season, will be present at the start of the 197.6km race, supported by a strong cast that is set to include Tim Declercq, Yves Lampaert – third overall at the Renewi Tour just a couple of weeks ago – Michael Mørkøv, Florian Sénéchal and Bert Van Lerberghe.
“GP Fourmies is a nice race, but not an easy one. We travel there with a team that holds several cards to play: we can target a bunch sprint, but we can also go on the attack, depending on how things unfold. The confidence is high within the squad and we hope to get a good result at the end of the day”, said sports director Wilfried Peeters.
