The final 179km Stage 5 of Tour de Wallonie ended in another chaotic bunch sprint, in which teams battled for position all the way until the final few hundred meters before launching their sprint.

Danilo Napolitano (Aqua & Sapone) won once again, with Gianni Meersman (Lotto-Belisol) taking 2nd and Davide Appollonio (Sky ProCycling) taking third. There was initial confusing over the finish, but the photo of the finish showed Napolitano as the victor.

The first breakaway of the day, after flurries of attacks, finally stuck with 83km to go. However, even that break was reeled in, and the peloton shut down everything else to ensure a sprint finish.

Nikolas Maes was the top finisher for OPQS, in 14th place.
