A strong team will take on the prestigious one-day race.

The 88th edition of Flèche Wallonne will be a special one, as it celebrates 40 years since the race first finished atop the Mur de Huy. One of cycling’s most iconic climbs, the 1.3km hill averaging 9.6% features four times on the course of Wednesday’s race, which will include five more ascents before the final showdown coming after almost 200 kilometers in the saddle.

In the last decade, no team has scored more top-three finishes at the Belgian classic than Soudal Quick-Step, our riders racking up a total of eight podiums since 2014, including three victories. Coming after a solid display at last Sunday’s Amstel Gold Race, our squad will look to be again in the mix for a good result with a seven-man line-up consisting of Antoine Huby, James Knox, Pepijn Reinderink, Pieter Serry, Ilan Van Wilder, Mauri Vansevenant, and Louis Vervaeke.

“We know that we aren’t the favourites for this race, but we have a very strong team and we start with huge motivation and confidence after our strong outing in Amstel, where we came so close to a podium after going on the offensive early. We’ll see how the race goes, but we believe in our chances of getting a good result at the end of the day”, said Soudal Quick-Step sports director Klaas Lodewyck.
