Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Peter Velits did his best to try and get a stage for the team in the 216.1km Stage 4 of Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah.
Velits and his five break mates had more than a 10 minute gap at one point in the race. They worked well together, rotating regularly in the paceline up until the final kilometer. The break had a chance of making it, as they held a lead of less than a minute going into the final 5km. However, the charging, single file peloton was determined to settle the stage in a field sprint.
With 800 meters to go, the break was caught. Jake Keough (UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team) won the stage, with Marco Benfatto (Liquigas-Cannondale) finishing 2nd and Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda) placing 3rd.
Martin Velits was the top finisher for OPQS, in 9th place.
