The gaps continue to be small ahead of the first major test of the week.
Three days are in the books at the Quatre Jours de Dunkerque, and things are about to get serious after only the sprinters were in the spotlight so far. The most recent flat day travelled from Saint-Laurent-Blangy to Bouchain, over a distance of 165.1 kilometers, and was animated by a four-man breakaway who was easily brought back by the peloton.
The bunch sprint was won by Sam Bennett (Decathlon AG2R), while Jordi Warlop rolled over the line in the same time, together with his Soudal Quick-Step teammates, and remained just a couple of seconds away from the general classification podium with three stages to go.
The next appointment will be the most important one so far, a 166.8km tough stage taking in numerous cobblestone segments which are certain to shake up the overall standings at the French race and create some significant gaps between the contenders.
