The young Belgian looks forward to this new chapter of his promising career.

One of the best juniors out there, Matijs Van Strijthem will ride for the Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team from next season. Just 18 years of age, Matijs has caught the eyes of many with his remarkable results during his spell with the Van Moer Logistics Cycling Team, but was keen on making the move to our feeder team, where he will continue his remarkable progression.

Belgian Champion on the road, a title he earned less than two weeks ago, Van Strijthem showed some impressive things in the one-day races he competed so far, powering to victory from a select group at the Vlaams-Brabantse Pijl and racking up a pair of podiums at the E3 Saxo Classic and Ronde van Vlaanderen.

“I am happy to be joining Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team. This organisation has a history of developing young riders and an amazing tradition in the Classics, so for me it was an easy decision. I hope to make some important steps here, show myself whenever possible and set some nice goals, which I will hopefully achieve with the help of this squad. I love this sport, I love racing and I can’t wait for this new chapter”, an excited Matijs said.

Team manager Bart Roosens is happy with the new signing: “Matijs is one of the young talented Belgians we definitely wanted in our team. He is made for the one-day races, has an impressive sprint at the end of a hard race and a lot of growth potential, so we are obviously delighted he will race for us.”
