A determined seven-man squad will be at the start of Friday’s event.

Created in 2015, Zwevezele Koers is one of the last kermesses of the season. Scheduled just before the weekend, when the riders will take on a 153.5km course, the race promises to be full gas and action-packed from the moment the flag will be waived.

Soudal Quick-Step comes at the start with five World Tour riders – Ayco Bastiaens, Yves Lampaert, Bert Van Lerberghe, Warre Vangheluwe and Jordi Warlop – who will be joined by two members of our Devo team. These are Leander Van Hautegem, the 21-year-old Belgian who so far this season has won three races, and Lars Vanden Heede, his much younger countryman, who also impressed this year in a number of races, most recent of which was the West Bohemia Tour.

“Zwevezele is one of the most important kermesses in Belgium. There will be a lot of laps and a lot of corners which are sure to take their toll on the peloton, and the weather won’t be good, so this too should make an impact on how things will go. We have a motivated team for this eighth edition and we are prepared to do our best and go for a strong result”, said Soudal Quick-Step sports director Tom Steels.
