The 23-year-old neo-pro was our top finisher after a hectic race.

Friday brought one of the last kermesses of the season, the 153.5km Zwevezele Koers, held over a flat circuit that the riders covered several times. The narrow and twisty roads made for a spectacular race, but also the weather played a part in the way things unfolded, the nagging rain in Belgium making everything more difficult to control.

Our team tried to be in all the main moves, placing riders in the various groups scattered all over the road. Despite all the skirmishes and the many attacks that came, the difference was made only in the closing kilometers of the final lap, where Jonas Rickaert (Alpecin-Deceuninck) rode away from a small group to take the victory.

Soudal Quick-Step’s Warre Vangheluwe, who just two weeks ago powered to victory at the Memorial Briek Schotte, finished fourth after another solid display, and was joined in the top ten by two of his teammates – Jordi Warlop and Bert Van Lerberghe.
