Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team riders Martin Velits and Matt Brammeier finished 12th and 13th in the 190.2 Stage 5 of USA Pro Challenge on Friday.
The stage, a flatter course than prior stages with a lone Cat. 1 climb (Hoosier Pass) early on, came down to a bunch sprint as a breakaway of seven riders was reduced to just 3, and eventually 2, in the final kilometers.
Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp) won the stage with Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing Team) placing 2nd, and Alessandro Bazzana (Team Type 1 - Sanofi) was 3rd.
Levi Leipheimer, defending champion, remains in 4th place in the GC, just 8" back from race leader Tejay van Garderen (BMC Racing Team). There were no changes in the top of the GC, as those riders were given the same time at the finish.
The team looks next to a 165.8km stage on Saturday. The race returns to plenty of climbing, with three categorized climbs including a finish on Cat. 1 Boulder/Flagstaff mountain.
