The 178.4km Stage 19 of La Vuelta a Espana was a stage that suited riders such as the eventual winner, Philippe Gilbert (BMC Racing Team), who outsprinted the field on the uphill finish of a relatively flat stage on Friday.
Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) was 2nd, and Daniel Moreno (Katusha) was 3rd. Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team missed the stage opportunity, as a peloton split in the final 20km left them out of the front group.
A two rider break escaped as soon as the race flag dropped, but they were caught with approximately 30km to go in the stage.
OPQS looks next to the 170.7km Stage 20 on Saturday. The stage features three Category 1 climbs, one Category 2 climb, and an HC summit finish.
