Three riders escaped a select group of 20 riders in the final kilometers to determine the winner of the 205.7km Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal on Sunday. After the peloton pulled back a three rider breakaway, which was eventually reduced to just two riders with several laps left of the 12.1km, 17 lap circuit, riders continued to attack the field. The bunch chased out each attack, but with the pace high, and several climbs each lap, riders were progressively falling off the pace. OPQS was unable to keep up the high tempo to contest the sprint.
Alexander Kolobnev (Katusha Team) attacked within the final kilometers, and maintained his gap until 300m remained. Moreno Moser (Liquigas-Cannondale) launched his sprint and passed Kolobnev on the right. However, Lars Petter Nordhaug (Team Sky ProCycling) timed his sprint perfectly, passing both riders for the race victory.
Dries Devenyns was the top finisher for OPQS, in 44th place.
