The Omega Pharma Half Marathon was first organized three years ago on the initiative of Marc Coucke, CEO Omega Pharma, who accepted the challenge to run a half marathon for his first time. In the meantime, the early-bird subscriptions for the third edition are running fast. On October 18, already 787 participants had enrolled, compared to 651 at the same moment last year. If this interim status is extrapolated, the third edition will again have a record number of participants, which would make this event one of the biggest in its kind in Flanders.
Among the early-bird subscribers are Eveline Hoste (media star, Miss Belgian Beauty 2001), Luc Van Lierde (athlete, four time winner of the Ironman triathlon, World champion triathlon 1997) and Roger De Vlaminck (former professional cyclist, four time winner of Paris-Roubaix). More stars are expected to enrol.
Beside the half marathon run, the happening also includes the Davitamon Run 10Km, the Bodysol Run 5km and the Paranix Kidsrun (1500 m or 600 m).
Participants can enroll via the website www.omegapharmahalvemarathon.be, or at the event location on October 28.
