Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Gianni Meersman was the top finisher in another bunch sprint finish at Challenge Mallorca — this time, at the end of 167km Trofeo Campos-Santanyi-Ses Salines. Meersman finished 13th.
A seven rider break, which had a considerable gap earlier in the stage, was brought back with 27km to go in the race. From there, the peloton waited for the chance to set up their leadout trains. Leigh Howard (Orica-GreenEDGE) won the stage, with Tyler Farrar (Garmin - Sharp) placing 2nd and Joaquin Rojas (Movistar) taking 3rd.
OPQS looks next to Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana Deia-Lluc on Wednesday. This day features a Category 1 climb at kilometer 130, and several Category 2 and 3 climbs earlier in the race. Sports Director Tom Steels predicted that OPQS would have their best chances in tomorrow's race, as well as the 4th day of Challenge Mallorca.
