Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team sprinter Andrew Fenn took another 5th place in the sprint. The 4th stage of Le Tour de Langkawi finished in a bunch sprint, which was won by former OPQS-rider Francesco Chicchi.
Just like in the first two stages a lead group animated the stage, but the peloton reeled them in during the final kilometres. Several teams were aiming at a bunch sprint. After two sprint wins of Theo Bos (Blanco) this time Francesco Chicchi (Vini Fantini) turned out to be the fastest of the bunch. Andrea Guardini (Astana) and Aidis Kruopis (Orica - GreenEDGE) finished 2nd and 3rd. Andrew Fenn finished 5th, the same position as in stage 2.
"It was a fast stage of 168km, and a tailwind the entire day," Sport Director Rik Van Slycke said. "Today we had Bert Grabsch pulling with other teams helping to bring the break back. At 6km to go Serge Pauwels had a broken spoke, so the train for Andy Fenn was disturbed due to the mechanical. Andy still got in good position thanks to great work from Michal Golas and Pieter Serry. Andy started the sprint a bit too early. But OK, we will focus on tomorrow's stage which has a finish similar to Alpe d'Huez. By the way, it is super hot here! 38 degrees!"
