Biography of Bert

Bert spent 18 years as a goalkeeper in professional football, but has been a long-time cycling fan. His favourite race is Gent-Wevelgem, the reason behind this being that his grandmother lived on the parcours, and when he was a kid, he used to go there every year and cheer on the riders before running inside for the final 15 kilometers on the TV.

After stopping football, Bert – who hails from Heule and is a supporter of ten-time domestique champion Standard Liège – decided to do some triathlon races. In recent years, he worked as a freelancer for several cycling teams, and since the beginning of this season, he has joined the Wolfpack on a full-time basis.
