Biography of Geert

Geert Coeman began his career within the sport of cycling as a financial director at Domo, a carpets company based in Belgium, for 25 years. “During my career at Domo, they sponsored the cycling team called Domo-Farm Frites in 2000”, Geert said. “The team stayed in the peloton for four years. During that period, I experienced the chance to work closely with the cycling team, and, of course, I got caught up in the passion of the sport. When Domo stopped the sponsorship, I then became CFO of Davitamon – Lotto”. After seven years with that team, he joined the staff of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl in 2012.

“I knew Patrick Lefevere for years, and he didn’t have to say much to convince me to work for this team”, Geert said. “I like to work for this team, and the lifestyle we have. I love the way each division of a cycling team is organized. Everything works fine in each department for us because of it. Everyone is really professional. Of course, there is always room for improvement, as we say in Belgium, but we are taking important steps year-by-year. In this team we are all extremely dedicated, with the same goal of winning races.”

Geert is married with four kids, and his favourite event is the team time trial. “I will never forget the first time we became World Champions in the TTT, in Valkenburg”, he said. “I love the way a cycling team prepares such a race. Everything comes down to details, the preparation, the commitment of the staff, and of course, the actual race. Everything has to be in order and ready, just as it has to be in a good budget.”
