Biography of James
For more than a decade, between 2001 and 2015, James forged a career as a respected and consistent pro, who got to race 16 Monuments, dozens of other one-day multi-stage events, picking up several solid results in such races as the Tour of Qatar, Nokere Koerse, Le Samyn, Scheldeprijs and Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen, which he finished in the top 10.
Shortly after stopping his career, James became part of the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl family, because he couldn’t stay away from cycling, which he loves so much. One of our highly experienced three drivers, he spends arounds 200 days together with the team each year, averaging some 350 kilometers per day (do the math and you’ll see it’s almost twice the circumference of the earth).
He describes Yves Lampaert’s solo win at the 2018 Belgian Championships as the most beautiful and emotional moment he got to live since joining the squad. Whenever he’s got some time, James goes out for a run – and believe us, you wouldn’t think he has retired for four years now – watch comedies and listen to the top music of the 80s (just ask for his playlist if you ever spot him at the races and convince for yourself).
