Biography of Roman

Hailing from Hingene, a quiet town in Antwerp, Roman discovered cycling during his rehabilitation from a football injury. At that time, he was inspired to get on his bike on a regular basis by his idols – Paolo Bettini, Tom Boonen and Johan Museeuw – all of whom wrote history in the jersey of our team.

Being scientifically driven, he gradually learned about the best ways to train and perform, which eventually led to him studying Sports and Kinesiology at the Catholic University in Leuven. The institution was well connected with cycling through Professor Peter Hespel and the cooperation with the Bakala Academy, where he met Koen Pelgrim. After earning his master’s degree, Roman went abroad and worked with various cycling federations to start up talent detection programs, before returning home and joining the Wolfpack ahead of the 2023 season.

In his spare time, he enjoys riding the enduro bike, going out with his dog and listening to reggae music.
